Things to do in San Francisco

The Golden Gate Bridge is an iconic example of American architecture. It connects San Francisco to Marin County and stretches over two miles across the Pacific Ocean.  This dream of connecting these two land masses became a reality during the Great Depression. When the job opportunities arose, brave workers were willing to risk their lives, enduring the rough conditions of the sea in order to make the Golden Gate Bridge a reality.

Another fun and educational family outing for families visiting San Francisco is the Alcatraz Experience.   Alcatraz once held the most notorious criminals from 1934-1963, like Al Capone, and Robert Stroud. Alcatraz was once a harbor defense port and a military prison. Tours of this former prison and its grounds unveil the hidden history and secrets that until now have been kept secret.

The San Francisco Zoo is a favorite among locals and tourists. The Zoo is home to many reptiles, mammals, amphibians, birds, and invertebrate. The San Francisco Zoo has several programs, including children's programs such as the Little Learners, Animal Adventures, Young Zoologists, Conservation Club, Girl Scouts, and a Teens program. Additionally, there are programs for adults that occur throughout the year. Visitors are encouraged to check the San Francisco Zoo website to find dates and pricing of the varied programs that are offered.

If you like thrills, San Francisco is home to many locations that are believed to be haunted, like Stow Lake, Ocean Beach Sutro Bath, Curran Theater, and the Queen Anne Hotel.
